We Check Everything, Even What Others Overlook

The importance of Quality Assurance and Quality Estimation in our linguistic services: what are they and what do they add?

In the language services sector, quality is not just a requirement — it's a commitment to precision, fluency and cultural consistency. At Kobalt, we understand that delivering flawless content more than just converting words from one language to another; it’s about capturing nuances, context and meaning. That’s why we have two essential pillars at the heart of our workflow: Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Estimation.

What is quality control in linguistic services?

Quality control in linguistic services is about more than just detecting grammatical errors. It is also a continuous process that ensures every text meets the established quality standards in the target language — as well as any specific criteria set by the client or type of text. This includes checking for terminological consistency, cultural appropriateness and the overall fluency of the final content. Our team of professionals reviews the texts to optimise them, ensuring they align with the client's expectations and needs.

At Kobalt, we consider translation memories built and maintained with previously-edited content from the client, glossaries co-created with both clients and linguists that include the terminology the client expects, and a specialised human team that reads the content in its final format. The CAT Tool we use in our projects allows us to automate and tailor checks according to the needs of each project.

Depending on the subject matter, the client’s KPIs, and the linguistic and terminological requirements of the text, each client, each project and each language combination may require a different quality control approach. Our CAT Tool enables us to configure each process with the necessary specificity and detail for each case. For example, we may verify that grammar rules for a given language have been respected, or that a product description in the fashion sector follows specific terminology guidelines.

Although QA is performed at the final stage of the workflow, it’s absolutely essential to ensure high-quality delivery.

Quality Estimation: Measuring the quality of every translation

In our translation services, Quality Estimation plays a key role in assessing how each project is performing. Thanks to advanced quality analysis tools, we can evaluate the accuracy and fluency of translations before delivery. We set clear metrics that allow us to identify areas for improvement and anticipate potential issues, ensuring that every delivery lives up to client expectations.

Our Know-How: Quality translations backed by experience

Our team comprises specialised translators from various fields. These professionals are not only language experts, but  also understand the importance of terminological consistency and cultural adaptation in each project. We also work with translation memory technologies and automated quality tools, enabling us to work more efficiently, consistently and accurately in every assignment.

Results that guarantee satisfaction
(Customer survey results and reduction in non-conformities recorded in 2024 compared to the previous year)

Thanks to our rigorous QA and Quality Estimation processes, we’ve achieved a client satisfaction rate of over 95%, delivering on-time, precise and error-free translation projects. For us, each project is an opportunity to keep improving and refining our practices — always with the goal of delivering the best possible service.

ISO 9001 and 17100 certifications

Kobalt Languages obtained ISO 9001 and 17100 certifications in June 2024. From the beginning, the company was built around the principles of these two essential standards in our industry.

Preparing for and obtaining these certifications has allowed us to document processes, track and follow up on incidents, and implement improvements across all stages. Clients benefit directly from this, as the quality of both service and deliverables can never fall below the high benchmarks we’ve set for ourselves.
